The Auburn City Council was briefed last night on the South St./Route 34 construction project.

The $7 million dollar project connected the city’s historic South St. district to the city line through repaving of 4/10 of a mile of roadway. City Clerk Chuck Mason says a lot of aging infrastructure along South St. was replaced.

Mason says a very important part of the project was to provide sidewalk access to the Harriet Tubman Home.

Parking and vehicle access was improved as well. Thanks to grants and federal funding, the city’s share of the project came in at under a million dollars.

Mason was a guest on the Inside the FLX podcast.
