Syracuse women’s basketball cruises past Cornell for fourth straight win (full coverage)

Najé Murray led the Orange with 18 points, three assists and six rebounds in Wednesday’s 85-55 win over Cornell (4-6) in the Carrier Dome. Murray added two steals to ‘Cuse’s 12. Syracuse improves to 6-4 overall and is now 6-1 at home this season.

Alaysia Styles tied her season-high in points with 16. She also recorded nine rebounds, two steals, and two assists. This marks her third-straight game scoring in double figures. She went 7-for-10 from the field.

The Orange scored the first points of the game off Christianna Carr three-pointers and dominated the remainder of the first quarter. Syracuse held Cornell to nine points while expanding their lead by 20. ‘Cuse closed the first quarter leading 23-9.

Syracuse extended its lead in the second frame to head into the break ahead 39-22. The Orange shot 7-for-18 from beyond the arc while Cornell was 0-for-9. As a unit, Syracuse had a 47.2 field goal percentage in the first 20 minutes of action.

Acting head coach Vonn Read used all nine active players in the Orange win. Eight-of-nine scored and five of the nine scored in double figures. Christianna Carr had 12 points, three rebounds, three assists, and a steal.

Chrislyn Carr tallied 11 points, four assists, two rebounds and two steals. The USBWA and ACC Player of the Week, Teisha Hyman, added 11 points, seven rebounds six assists, and three steals. Alaina Rice notched seven points and four rebounds while Nyah Wilson recorded four points and four assists. Freshmen Julianna Walker earned a career-high six points off of two made three-pointers.

Syracuse went 32-for-61 from the field and 12-for-29 from three, good for 52.5% and 41.4%, respectively.

‘Cuse scored 28 fast break points and 38 points in the paint in the victory.
