Cayuga County man charged with felony reckless endangerment after infant seriously injured

A 33-year-old Meridian resident faces child assault charges after an investigation that lasted nearly a year.

The Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office reported the charging of Richard Carr, 33, of Meridian this week. While taken into custody without incident, Carr is accused of violently shaking an infant – resulting in serious head trauma.

Multiple agencies were involved in the investigation, including Cayuga County Department of Social Services and District Attorney’s Office.

While the infant has recovered from the injuries suffered in last winter’s attack, Carr was charged with a felony count of reckless endangerment. He was arraigned and held on $10,000 cash bail or $20,000 secured bond.
