Teisha Hyman’s triple-double leads Syracuse to blowout victory over Central Connecticut State (full coverage)

Teisha Hyman is the first Syracuse women’s basketball player to record a triple-double comprised of points, assists and steals.

The redshirt sophomore guard finished with 27 points, 15 assists, 11 steals and eight rebounds in a dominant 116-65 win over Central Connecticut State on Sunday. Hyman’s total in assists, steals and rebounds marked career-bests. She tallied a career-high in points (30) earlier this week in the Orange’s upset win over No. 18 Ohio State.

Hyman played 37 minutes and made 10-of-12 attempts from the field, including a perfect 2-of-2 from the 3-point line. Her 11 steals are a program record — the most since Cintia Johnson had eight against Seton Hall on Feb. 3, 2007.

Syracuse broke a school record on Sunday with 116 points, the most since Nov. 20, 2013 when the Orange dropped 113 in a blowout win over Maryland Eastern Shore. SU led 65-29 at the half, which set another program record for the most points scored in one half.

The win marks three consecutive wins for Syracuse (5-4, 0-1 ACC) after a three-game losing streak in the Battle 4 Atlantis tournament. The Orange is now 4-0 all-time against Central Connecticut (1-5).
