UR Medicine is delaying some elective and semi-elective surgeries for the time being.
The three-week pause will begin December 6, according to officials, who say there were 254 COVID patients across the system’s hospitals.
Complicating things is the fact that 98 of those patients are ready to be discharged, but cannot be due to lack of staff.
The elective surgery pause only includes procedures that require post-operation inpatient care.
Outpatient procedures are not impacted by the pause.
