A man has been killed in an ATV crash in the town of Urbana.
Steuben County Sheriff’s Deputies were called Wednesday to the area of Reservoir Hill Road in Urbana for a reported rollover ATV crash. Deputies found two men in gulley neat the crashed ATV.
[ad}Deputies, an investigator, three of which are also EMTs, and a Trooper responded into the gulley to assess and treat the operator and the passenger, who were at different locations separate from the ATV. Both persons were down a steep embankment approximately 100 feet below the trail surface. The passenger of the ATV, Michael L. Drake, age 59, was found to be deceased. The alleged operator of the ATV, Henry R. Drake, age 62 and brother to the deceased, received life-saving treatment from the investigator and deputies for lacerations to the head and leg and with the assistance of the Hammondsport Volunteer Fire Department, was rope-lifted from the scene and subsequently airlifted to a trauma center for treatment. The crash is still under investigation.
