Some couples that file taxes jointly and make under $150,000 annually could see a $400 stimulus check.
Illinois Republicans have proposed legislation that could give qualifying residents a small boost just before Christmas.
If passed, single filers earning under $75,000 can get $200 and joint filers making under $150,000 can get $400.
The efforts are similar to what the federal stimulus checks were aiming to do for Americans.
Other states have put in the effort to provide for their residents as well.
California residents are waiting on another batch of stimulus checks worth up to $1,100 to be sent Nov. 29.
9 million in total will benefit from the Golden State Stimulus checks.
To qualify, your AGI must be between $1 and $75,000 and your 2020 tax returns need to have been filed by Oct. 15.
The checks are being sent based on zip codes and this Monday residents with zip codes ending in 585-719 will start to have their checks sent. They will go out until Dec. 13.
Social Security recipients can also expect an increase in their payments beginning in Jan. 2022 thanks to the increase in COLA.
The new average will rise to around $1,600.
