The Ithaca Police Department and New York State Police Community Stabilization Unit conducted a traffic stop in the city, which resulted in a brief pursuit.
According to police, Breon Brooks was stopped for a vehicle and traffic violation.
Following the traffic stop officers attempted to take him into custody, which resulted in a brief foot chase.
He was taken into custody a short time later without additional incident.
Brooks was charged with resisting arrest, criminal possession of a controlled substance, and an additional count of criminal possession of a controlled substance.
He’s current on parole for a weapons related conviction.
