One of the most popular tourist destinations in Upstate New York has been rehabilitated.
Local leaders hope that through a major state rehabilitation project along Sodus Bay the next time a significantly wet winter or spring happens – it will mean less flooding.
Sodus Point was devastated by flooding in 2017 and 2018. It resulted in nearly a full year of lost revenue for some small businesses that operate seasonally along Lake Ontario.
Homeowners were also significantly impacted by the historic flooding.
The state recently finished a $7.5 million project intended to stabilize the area and reduce the risk of future flooding.
