The state is making it easier for communities to opt out of the new marijuana law in New York.
At least parts of it.
Through a local zoning component, cities, towns, and villages have had the option to decline marijuana selling businesses. The deadline to ‘opt-out’ ice December 31, 2021.
If a local government bans sales of recreational marijuana – they will not be eligible to receive the tax benefits from it overall.
Now, the Office of Cannabis Management has launched an online portal, which can be found by clicking here.
