Longtime Skaneateles diner gets new home, owners as another restaurant shuts down

A longtime Skaneateles restaurant is shutting down, but that doesn’t mean the location won’t see its legacy as a food hot spot end.

Owners of Johnny Angel’s Heavenly Burgers recently announced that they sold their business to Adam Weitsman. The plan at this point is to open Clover’s Café in that location.

He’s opening the restaurant, which is named after his daughter, to succeed The Hilltop.

Weitsman said that was her favorite restaurant until its planned closure. For the Hilltop, it’s final day of business will be Sunday, November 14.

The staff should be moving over from the old location, too.

“The staff is like family and early morning visits there have created some of my best ideas in my life,” Weitsman told The Citizen. “It’s a legendary venue comprised of wonderful people in our little village.”

The new Clover Café will be open daily. More information is expected to be released on the restaurant’s Facebook page in the coming days and weeks.
