Watch out: Scammers are using Google Ads to steal people’s cryptocurrency, be careful when clicking

A new crypto fraud has presented itself in the form of Google Ads. Over the weekend over $500,000 in cryptocurrency was stolen by using this tactic.

Scammers are buying ad space to post ads that look like legitimate wallet brands like MetaMask in order to get people to share their wallet codes and keys.

Normally scammers phish through emails or even phones, but this is an entirely new way of scamming.

The ads brought consumers to a malicious website that looked similar to the original wallet website it was mimicking, and had a spot for people to enter their wallet passwords.

Scamming groups are bidding for wallet keywords on Google Ads with Google Search.
