18 billionaires have reportedly received COVID-19 relief stimulus checks along with many other wealthy individuals.
Stimulus checks were said to be aid for poor and middle class households during the pandemic, but 270 wealthy upper-class households collected the first round that went out in 2020. The collective income of these people is $5.7 billion.
These checks were for people making up to $75,000 or married couples making $150,000.
The wealthy people collecting these checks did so by bringing their net incomes to less than 0 with deductions and write offs.
This raises concern for Democrats already looking for ways to reform the tax process and feel that wealthy individuals should pay more in taxes.
