The Wayne Eagles girls volleyball team secured the Class B crown in Section V on Saturday against the pesky sixth seeded Honeoye Falls-Lima. HFL came in to the final round on a roll from the upset special side of the bracket. Through the first set of the match, it appeared as though that narrative would continue, as Wayne mishandled an early set lead to drop the opening set 26-24.

In second set, Wayne was able to flip the script on HFL after they jumped to an early set lead. This time, the Eagles came thundering back from an early deficit to take the set victory 25-22. In the third set, Wayne was able to maintain the momentum, and although the score was tied a few different times throughout the set, the Eagles never trailed and took the victory 25-21.
In what would be the final set of the match, the Eagles jumped out to an early 7-1 set lead, however HFL wouldn’t go away silently, coming back to tie the set at 18-18. Wayne and HFL became inseparable for several rallies after that, and the set became tied at 23-23. Wayne was able to turn away the serve HFL, grab a one point lead, and have match serve. It would be all they needed, as the Eagles snatched the victory 25-23, and match victory 3-1.
