A new COVID-19 symptom has been discovered: inner ear infections.
New research shows that COVID-19 can enter the body through the ears through the eustachian tube. That tube is what connects the nose and middle ear.
The study was published in the medical journal Nature Communications Medicine.
The infection in the ear can cause COVID-19 symptoms like issues with hearing and balance which then lead to dizziness.
The virus entering this way could go into the brain space to infect nerves.
This shows a connection to a lot of hearing and balance issues COVID-19 patients said they have experienced.
