Canandaigua woman dies after being hit by car crossing 5&20

The Ontario County Sheriff’s Office confirmed on Thursday that the 74-year-old Canandaigua woman who was struck by a driver on 5&20 on Wednesday died from injuries sustained in the wreck.

The Monroe County Medical Examiner’s Office is involved in the investigation.

Deputies said the investigation into the crash was still active late-Thursday.

75-year-old airlifted after being hit by car on 5&20: Police say Canandaigua driver charged with unlicensed operation

Police say a 75-year-old was seriously injured crossing 5&20 in the town of Hopewell.

The accident happened around 4 p.m. on Wednesday near Algerine Road.

Witnesses said the woman pulled over, parked along the highway, and then crossed the road to get to a cabbage stand.


The victim, identified as Marjorie Henninger, of Canandaigua was airlifted to Strong Memorial Hospital.

The driver, Joshua Modzel, 34, of Canandaigua was ticketed for aggravated unlicensed operation.

No other information was immediately available.
