The Ministry of Health reports that Cambodia plans to start vaccinating children as young as 5 with the Chinese COVID-19 vaccine Sinovac.
MoH’s Secretary of State stated that all 5-year-olds in every city and province will be getting two doses of the Sinovac vaccine starting Nov. 1 with 28 days between their first and second doses.
Parents need to provide a birth certificate, family record book, or passport to have their children vaccinated.
13.7 million people ages 6 and older in Cambodia have received the vaccine, which makes up 85% of the population.
13 million are fully vaccinated and 1.83 million have had a booster shot.
Children in the U.S. may be eligible for the Pfizer vaccine in November.
