NRA hacked by Russian ransomware gang

The National Rifle Association is one the most notorious gun rights groups in the U.S. Evidently, a ransomware gang from Russia hacked it.

The gang goes by the name of Grief and published files from the NRA onto the dark web. The files are about grants that were awarded by the NRA.

An anonymous source stated that the NRA did have email issues this week.

There are five million people who belong to the NRA, staunch supporters who spent millions on trying to get Donald Trump re-elected.

Experts seem to think targeting the NRA is out of character for ransomware gangs, and they normally go after technology, not political organizations.

The relationship between Russia and the U.S. remains strained as the U.S. has been a target of various cyber security attacks.
