Indiana congressman Jim Banks had his Twitter suspended after making a comment violating the social media platform’s rules.
His comment was about Dr. Rachel Levine becoming the first female four-star officer and being openly transgender.
His comment said, “The title of first female four-star officer gets taken by a man.”
In a second Tweet, he stated “calling someone that was born and lived as a man for 54 years the first ‘female’ four-star officer is an insult to every little girl who dreams of breaking glass ceilings one day.”
The comments violated Twitter’s rules against hate speech and targeted misgendering.
His account remained active but he could not post until he deleted the Tweet. On his personal account he said what he stated was a fact, and stood by his comments.
He went on to say “Big Tech” does not need to agree but should not be able to cancel, silence, or prevent anyone from telling the truth.
