New proposal would ban the sale of single use plastic water bottles in state parks

A bill may make it so anyone visiting a New York State Park needs to bring a reusable water bottle.

The bill would ban the sale of single use water bottles in any state park. It’s estimated that one million plastic water bottles are sold all over the world every minute but most aren’t recycled.

Advocates for the environment are supporting the bill introduced by Senator Elijah Reichlin-Melnick and Assemblywoman Pat Fahy.

Fahy also supports a bill that requires single use plastic water bottles be made using 75% recycled material by the year 2025.
