Small retailers struggle to stock their shelves in time for the holidays as inventory sits off the coast on cargo ships

The Biden administration is working with private sectors to help the supply chain issue, but small businesses are worried as the holiday season approaches.

Small businesses have their inventory on backorder right now on the ships, and items that normally take two weeks to arrive are taking months.

October is when stores prep for Black Friday sales, but small businesses are worried as their inventory sits on ships off the coast for now.

Some small retailers are being pickier with their ordering, sticking with items that they know are in stock and in the country.

Biden recently announced the plan is for Walmart, UPS, and FedEx to work 24/7 on unloading the cargo ships in an attempt to get inventory on the shelves before Christmas.

They have also announced that most of what people plan to get this year for their families may not be available, and backup plans need to be prepared.
