Eric Smith was convicted of killing 4-year-old Derick Robie in 1994 when he was 13 years old, and has been granted parole.
He’s been incarcerated since his conviction.
Smith was denied parole ten times before being approved this time.
Dale and Doreen Robie have fought against his release for years, and in 2014 Smith was told by the parole board that his positive programs and discipline record in prison weren’t enough to diminish his crimes.
He will be released Nov. 17.
