Rochester man damaged home, stole firearm during Ontario County burglary

A Rochester man was arrested on burglary charges after an investigation in Ontario County.

Deputies say Joseph Whitney, 41, of Rochester was already at the Ontario County Jail where he was being held on weapons charges – when arrested on additional charges related to the burglary.

It happened in the town of Bristol on October 9. It’s alleged that Whitney illegally entered a home and caused damage. He also stole items from the home including firearms.

Whitney was charged with second-degree burglary. All of the charges he faces will be answered at a later date in local court.
