Over 350 flights were canceled by Southwest Airlines on Monday for what the airline claims were bad weather and air traffic control problems.
The airline canceled flights throughout the weekend as well, leaving passengers stranded all over the country in airports.
Some individuals had so many flights canceled they opted to just purchase a flight through another airline or drive hundreds of miles to get home.
On Friday, the Southwest Airlines Pilots Association asked for the vaccine mandate from Southwest be blocked.
The biggest issue is pilots worrying about sick leave due to the vaccine.
Southwest has faced plenty of other issues from scheduling to staffing, and has attempted to fix delays and cancellations by trimming their schedule back.
The Federal Aviation Administration said the excuse for air traffic control issues was not legitimate and couldn’t have amounted to so many canceled flights, and there was apparently no protest over the vaccines.
Southwest has struggled greatly to bounce back ever since the pandemic hit, and they just recently put a vaccine mandate into place for their employees. They need to be vaccinated by Dec. 8 unless they’re exempt for medical or religious reasons.
