The excluded workers fund will no longer be accepting new applications for undocumented immigrants that didn’t receive pandemic aid.
The fund will have exhausted its $2 billion dollars by the end of the month.
The fund was originally created for those that could not receive funding from the federal government in the form of stimulus checks due to their immigration status.
Governor Kathy Hochul announced that $1.2 billion in payments have already been approved with 120,000 applications.
Advocates are pushing for additional funding as well as commending Hochul for her efforts in taking care of that part of the population.
