The Buffalo Sabres have recalled defenseman Casey Fitzgerald from the Rochester Americans, the team announced Monday.
Fitzgerald was reassigned to Rochester on Sunday. He tallied an assist and had a plus-2 rating in the Amerks’ 5-2 preseason win over the Syracuse Crunch.
Buffalo is scheduled to take the ice for practice at 11 a.m. Teams are required to submit their 23-man rosters for the regular season at 5 p.m.
The Sabres have 26 active players on their training camp roster with the addition of Fitzgerald. Coach Don Granato said Saturday that the team would have one last practice with extra players before trimming the roster to 23.
“We don’t need it until the evening, so we can actually practice with more players,” Granato said. “… We don’t mind more players. That helps the pace.”
