Two people led Ontario County Sheriff’s on a chase from Bristol to Victor Saturday after a burglary.
Joseph Whitney, 41, and Melinda Kress, 57, both of Rochester, fled the scene of a burglary as soon as deputies arrived.
Deputies responded to the report of an active burglary on Johnson Hill Road in Bristol and saw a red Chevrolet pickup truck fleeing the scene, which matched the description given in the report.
Deputies attempted to stop the truck but the driver sped up and fled.
While trying to outrun deputies, the truck went into a soybean field in Bloomfield, causing extensive damage. The truck blew a tire at this point, which slowed them down.
After getting back onto the road they lost control again in Victor in the Railside parking lot off Route 96.
Whitney was uninjured while Kress complained of head and neck pain and was treated at F.F. Thompson Hospital.
A K9 belonging to a Sheriff was injured during the pursuit but has been treated and released from the vet.
Upon searching the vehicle, deputies uncovered stolen long guns, hand guns, and tools.
Whitney is suspected to be involved in multiple burglaries throughout Ontario County where several tools and firearms have been stolen.
Whitney and Kress were both taken to Ontario County Jail to await arraignment and more charges are likely as the investigation continues.
