The first Ontario County Board of Supervisors meeting since Sheriff Kevin Henderson’s resignation announcement was held.
According to News 8, leaders said allegations of misconduct made towards him would be investigated.
The investigation is to see if there is more going on than leadership issues.
Residents shared their concerns and asked for transparency, including knowing the results of the investigation. Many of the meetings and investigations have been done privately, making it so residents were unable to form accurate opinions on the elected official.
The committee asks for patience as they investigate, and understanding for the privacy of employees that stepped forward.
Anonymous tips came through accusing Henderson and his undersheriff of sexual harassment. They also accused them of allowing sexual harassment from others to go on.
Henderson and his undersheriff have both resigned from their positions.
County Administrator Chris DeBolt told Rochester First that there may be systemic, structural, organizational, or training issues that need to be addressed.
Anyone subpoenaed has ten days to respond.
