The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Marion man on a criminally negligent homicide charge after an investigation into a fatal crash last year.
Timothy Mannix, 58, of Marion was charged with criminal negligent homicide and driving while ability impaired by drugs.
Mannix caused a crash involving multiple vehicles in the town of Ontario last year on State Route 104.
Nicole Dipiazza, 35, of Marion died in the wreck, according to officials.
There were five vehicles involved in the crash, which happened a little before 7 p.m. on that November 2020 night.
At the time, deputies said Mannix stopped in the passing lane for an unknown reason causing a chain-reaction crash. Dipiazza’s two children were inside the vehicle at the time of the crash and were sent to Strong Memorial Hospital for minor injuries.
