The Buffalo Sabres waived goaltender Aaron Dell on Wednesday, leaving Craig Anderson and Dustin Tokarski as their goaltending tandem.
Dell, 32, signed a $750,000 contract with the Sabres in free agency after spending last season in the New Jersey Devils organization. Before that, he played four seasons with the San Jose Sharks.
Anderson, 40, was contemplating retirement before signing with the Sabres in July. He started in two regular-season games and one playoff game for the Washington Capitals last season.
Tokarski, 32, has started 37 games in the NHL since debuting in 2010.
If Dell clears waivers, he will join Sabres goaltending prospect Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen in the AHL.
