Governor Kathy Hochul has shared that come 2022, former Governor Andrew Cuomo did not want to keep her as his running mate and planned to remove her from the ticket, according to Spectrum 1 News.
She explained to reporters Wednesday that the story was first run in the New York Post.
She said it was no secret that her and Cuomo weren’t close. He had attempted to get her off the ticket in 2014 and again in 2018 to no avail.
An unidentified source close to Cuomo said he wanted a running mate that was female and who was not white.
Hochul said she called for a study into Cuomo’s behavior in February, but that was it because she did not want it to appear self-serving. She wanted to take appropriate steps to have an investigation.
Hochul plans to announce who will be moving forward and who won’t be from the old administration Thursday.
