Bus driver shortages are impacting schools all over the state, and for Lafayette Central School District, one solution was having the superintendent drive.
While Belfield does not hold a CDL, he was able to drive one of the districts SUVs to bring students to and from Bishop Ludden.
He said it was the best two hours of his day, and if there weren’t people to pitch in and help drive, they would have had to go to remote learning.
Four more drivers have been hired for the district recently.
