Eric Smith, known for the murder of 4-year-old Derrick Robie in 1993, is scheduled for a parole hearing this week.
Smith is scheduled for an interview with the Parole Board on Oct. 4.
The Board has two weeks to come up with a decision following the interview.
Smith was last denied parole in January of 2020, making Monday’s hearing his 11th.
When Smith was 13 years old he lured the child into the woods in Steuben County before strangling him, crushing his head with a rock, and sexually abusing him.
He was found guilty of second degree murder and while he’s up for parole, he has a maximum possible sentence of life in prison.
