Congress expected to vote on big infrastructure bill Thursday night as government faces possible shutdown

Congress is preparing to vote Thursday evening in order to avoid a government shutdown.

This vote could also give more support to communities in New York that suffered damages from Hurricane Ida.

The bill for short-term government funding will help provide billions to communities damaged.

Many other bills are in the mix to be voted on this week too, with President Joe Biden’s domestic agenda at stake.

The two large spending bills are proposals for spending on infrastructure like roads, bridges and broadband, as well as health, education, and climate.

Many lawmakers remain at odds over the amount of spending, struggling to get the bills across the finish line.
