Volunteer delivery drivers are needed for delivering meals to senior citizens in Auburn through the Cayuga County Office for the Aging.
It asked that anyone choosing to volunteer commits to one morning per week. The deliveries take around two hours and mileage is reimbursed for rural routes.
Options for volunteering include doing it alone or with a partner, delivering in the city or county, and either on a weekly, daily, or substitute basis.
Meals are not delivered when school is closed or during bad weather- those who receive meals also get an emergency food package every fall for these instances.
With more volunteers the program can expand to reach more people in need.
The program isn’t just to deliver food, but to connect with those who may be all alone as well as checking on the safety of the recipients.
