Dr. Martin Stallone, Cayuga Health President and CEO, states that the mandate that went into effect Monday won’t have a major impact on their healthcare system, which includes Schuyler Hospital.
Most of the employees working for the system are vaccinated.
“I respect that the decision to get vaccinated is personal, but as a health system, I want to recognize that we do recommend vaccination as the first line of defense against COVID-19 for most individuals. Like all other health care facilities across the state, Cayuga Health is following this mandate, and we knew when this was announced that we might lose several valued and loyal employees,” Stallone said in a statement.
He added that it isn’t easy to see employees leave because of the mandate, and he hopes in the future if they become vaccinated they will rejoin the organization.
