Cayuga County will be voting this week in order to hire the first finance director in history.
Mary Beth Leeson, the deputy treasurer for Cayuga County, will be hired as the finance director following the resolution planned during the Legislature meeting.
The goal is to have a centralized finance department to take over financial responsibilities of the elected county treasurer.
The discussion to create a finance department for the county was back in February, and now plans are in full swing.
