NYSPHSAA clarifies mask mandate for student athletes in a recently released memo

The New York State Public High School Athletic Association has released a memo with guidance from the state on student athletes and mask wearing.

The mandate states that anyone indoors needs to be wearing a mask regardless of their vaccination status, including visitors.

If athletes cannot wear masks with a 6 foot distance then they should not participate.

Bishop Ludden Head Volleyball Coach John Buskey says he understands the need, but feels in volleyball that the students are spread apart.

He also said he wished students with medical conditions, like exercise induced asthma, were taken into consideration.
