A former employee of the New York State Department of Labor has been accused of stealing thousands of dollars from the state through her position.
Tramaine Pope, 31, of the Bronx, submitted and approved 20 false applications for unemployment insurance.
She pleaded guilty to federal program theft.
As a Senior Employment Security Clerk, she submitted claims worth a total of $314,168.
Pope agreed to paying restitution and could face up to ten years in prison.
