Mechanic admits to stealing thousands in equipment when working as a mechanic for State Police

A mechanic that worked on State Police cars was accused of, and admitted to, stealing over $24,000 in equipment from New York State.

David Relyea, 64, of Canastota, stole parts from 2015 until 2020.

His job entailed the maintenance of vehicles for Troop D in Oneida.




He used the auto repair business he owns to use the parts he stole.
