The Waterloo Village Board has voted unanimously to opt out of state laws that legalize marijuana.
Towns and Villages have until Dec. 31 to opt out, but once the deadline passes they may not opt out at all.
If they choose to opt out, they can change their minds at any point to opt in.
Officials for the Village have said just because they opted out does not mean they are against the idea, but they want more time to think about it.
Only one person spoke in favor of the law to ban the sale of marijuana at the meeting.
