New York will not be enlisting help from National Guard soldiers to drive school buses

As school bus driver shortages continue to be an issue throughout the country, New York appears to still be working toward a solution.

Massachusetts has called in the National Guard and is currently training 150 soldiers to drive a special van that can carry 8 passengers.

News10NBC reached out to Governor Kathy Hochul’s office to ask if they were considering the same strategy, but were told that is outside the scope of what the National Guard can do.

Representative Joe Morelle has asked that the need for a CDL to drive a school bus be dropped.
