Matt Barr will be returning to Lyons Central School District as the new superintendent.
Barr previously taught and was a principal for the school district for 17 years.
He was appointed Tuesday by the Board of Education and will begin Sept. 27 at $150,000 salary.
He is replacing Donald Putnam who will be moving to Franklinville Central School District in Cattaraugus County to be the superintendent.
In June of 2018 Barr became the principal for the Wayne-Finger Lakes BOCES Technical and Career Center in Flint, which is when he originally left Lyons.
Part of his decision to return was his history with Lyons, where he was a principal, assistant principal, a social studies teacher, teacher on special assignment, and the girls volleyball coach.
