Following the false report of a burglary and home invasion, a West Carthage teen has been arrested.
Maria R. Barnes, 19, of West Carthage, reported to police that on Sept. 2 a home invasion took place at her residence in Champion Apartments.
She said three known individuals forced their way into her apartment before assaulting her and fleeing.
After a lengthy investigation and use of resources, it was discovered that Barnes had made the story up and the individuals were in Saratoga at the time of the alleged incident.
Barnes was issued an appearance ticket and will appear in the Town of Champion Court Sept. 23.
