Representative Chris Jacobs broke federal law reporting security trades late

Representative Chris Jacobs is under fire after violating federal law by reporting 13 security trades past the deadline.

He made the trades between Jan. 19 and July 16 then signed the report Sept. 3.

Members of Congress must report trades within 45 days of the transactions.

12 of the trades were municipal securities.

The other one was reportedly a corporate trade that he did not request or know about until Aug.

The fine for filing a report later than 30 days after its deadline is $200.
