An Ithaca College alum is now the Acting Chair of the state’s Joint Commission on Public Ethics.
James Dering graduated in 1988 with his bachelor’s in Business Management.
He is a partner at Garfunkel Wild, P.C. where the law firm focuses on businesses in need in the health care industry.
He has also served as General Counsel of the New York State Department of Health and Deputy General Counsel and Director of the Bureau of House Counsel.
When he was the General Counsel he was the chief legal advisor to the Commissioner of Health, overseeing 125 attorneys and staff.
He received his J.D., cum laude, from Albany Law School of Union University.
