Governor Kathy Hochul, Senator Kirsten Gillibrand, and other local officials addressed the Texas abortion ban this week.
Hochul stated the women across the country often face the issue that their rights are being infringed upon after fighting for the rights they have today.
The law in Texas makes it illegal to abort a pregnancy once a heartbeat is detected, or six weeks after a missed period. Many women do not know yet that they are pregnant.
Hochul has directed state agencies to design a campaign that informs women of their rights and legal protections.
She said that the rights for women seeking abortion services in New York will always be protected, and that New York will welcome women from Texas with open arms.
