More students are opting for community college or employment instead of the traditional college experience

With the consequences of the pandemic creating such an unknown future, many students are opting for employment or community college instead of the typical 4 year college experience.

One reason is because students don’t want to pay such high tuition and end up going back to virtual learning.

President of Onondaga Community College, Dr. Casey Crabill, said she’s seeing many students that do enroll going part time and working to save money. There hasn’t been an increase in applications though, as many are choosing to just work.

Onondaga Community College charges $5,400 per year without room and board.

Crabill stated that if students chose community college over a university, they’re paying reasonably for an education and can go anywhere from there.
