Jury selection is set to begin Sept. 20 in Steuben County for the woman who shot and killed her husband before calling police to falsely report a home invasion.
Sherri A. Ballam, 58, is charged with multiple counts of falsifying business records and tampering with physical evidence in relation to her second degree murder charge.
She’s charged for the death of her husband, John L. Ballam, 63.
She faces a maximum of 25 years to life just for the murder charge.
Steuben County District Attorney Brooks Baker expects the jury selection to take two full days with COVID-19 protocols.
The trial is expected to take two weeks with up to 40 witnesses taking the stand.
Police originally responded to the incident Oct. 29 last year around 10 a.m., and later that day arrested Sherri Ballam.
She allegedly hid the gun after shooting her husband.
