A report released this month has found that hundreds of thousands of New York State residents are living with an undocumented immigrant.
Many are family members.
In total, 10.6 million Americans live with someone who is undocumented, leading advocacy groups to push for immigrations reforms.
California, Texas and Florida all have the highest number of undocumented people living within the state along with New York.
The data for New York includes:
- 630,000 individuals in New York live with an undocumented immigrant.
- 226,000 live with an undocumented parent.
- 110,000 live with an undocumented spouse.
Advocacy group FWD.us shows that changes to immigration status could add $59 billion to the economy.
